Hose Clamps
A hose clamp (or hose clip) is a specialized fastener designed to secure a hose or flexible tubing onto a specific fitting or raccord. It acts as the critical sealing component, preventing the leakage of liquids, gases, or compressed air within a pressurized system. These clamps are available in various types and application methods to suit different industrial or domestic needs.
They are primarily categorized into two groups:
1. Screw-type Hose Clamps
Standard screw-type clamps, often called worm-drive hose clamp, are typically used for medium to high-pressure applications. Their robust design allows for a high-torque leak tight sealing and consists of three main components:
- Housing (or Cage)
- Band (or Strip)
- Screw
2. Screwless Hose Clamps
Screwless clamps, like ear clips, are the ideal solution for quick assembly and low-pressure requirements. These are applied using specific tools, such as manual, pneumatic, or electric pincers. They provide a uniform, tamper-proof seal in high-speed production environments.
Beyond sealing, metal clamps also function as versatile fastening elements, ensuring a solid and durable application between two separate components.
